A Wealth of experience
Our President Ken Smyth has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge through his 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Ken took the decision to form Heritage Building & Consulting Services Inc following approaches by several clients, to provide these services to them, as they too had experienced the minefield of paperwork, meetings and poor quality finishes that some trades are delivering.
Ken chooses very carefully who he works with on projects. All contacts are reference checked and are registered with CRA to work legally in Canada. They will also have the appropriate qualifications and insurance.
Ken is President of the company and has worked in the construction industry for 30 years. He has held a number of executive and non-executive directorships as well as providing consultancy and SME mentoring. His experience proves that an apprenticeship can be a great start to a career. Ken took up an engineering apprenticeship at the age of 16, and during his career to date, has held numerous construction and management roles, ranging from Site Superintendent to company owner and consultant.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute Of Building, Co-Chair of the Association of Preservation Technology and a professional member of ICOMOS as well as an active member of Heritage Trust, Nova Scotia.
June, our Chief Finance Officer and part owner, has over 25 years experience in the construction and property management sector, having led multiple teams of support staff in busy office environments. June started off her career in construction as an office manager, responsible for customer liaison, taxation matters, accounts, trade contractor and supplier payments and general management of contracts, before progressing naturally to Chief Finance Officer of a number of companies. June relocated to Canada and recently obtained her licence to practice in real estate as a Realtor®️June is now supporting our family business as our CFO and company secretary.

Daniel grew up in a construction family and has been around job sites with his Father, Ken Smyth, since he was 8 years old. He completed his construction studies at college, specializing in property, planning and housing, and moved to Australia to gain international development and property experience, before relocating to Canada and joining his family at Heritage Building & Consulting Services Inc, as our operations manager, with the future holding Directorship and ownership of the company.
Harvey has a keen interest in engineering and technology and is currently in full time education, studying to provide future engineering support to the company. He too has grown up with construction in his everyday life and will be a great asset to us, as we plan the succession and legacy of Heritage Building & Consultancy Services Inc.
